Zakhele Insurance Brokers

The meaning of the word ‘zakhele’ is ‘to create one’s own destiny and opportunity’. In the spirit of this beautiful word, Zakhele Insurance Brokers was founded in 2016 by Phoenix Risk Solutions. The aim behind co-founding Zakhele was to focus on the mentoring of young people from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and, in the process, transfer skills to people who may otherwise not have had the opportunity to enter our vibrant industry.

A need was identified to support inclusive economic growth for all young South Africans partnered with a fundamental principle upheld by the Phoenix directors – timeous, adequate and thorough succession planning. Young, dynamic individuals were carefully mentored as the intention was to create economic opportunity for younger people who were working within the Phoenix group.

Phoenix Risk Solutions continues to support the infrastructure of Zakhele Insurance Brokers by offering technical support and mentorship when required. There is a continuous transfer of skills and development from the Phoenix Group to the Zakhele management and staff.

The directors of Zakhele Insurance Brokers are Zipho Mquqo (Managing), Craig Williams, Kruben Walason, Vaughn Williams, and Peter Williams and Peter Dollman (Phoenix Risk Solutions representatives.)
